Micro clases: lijado

The Humble Sander  The goal of all our micro courses is to give you an opportunity to focus on a single skill without being distracted by all the other tools and skills that are involved in creating a piece of furniture. The course modules are available as single classes or you can get a discount by purchases the enter course in one go. There is a separate course for hand and electric tools.  Sanding is easy, right? Well yes but no. Almost everyone that comes into our workshop thinks they know how to sand but the reality is that there is an art to sanding that makes a massive difference to the quality of the final finish of your project.  During this course we will look at the different types of sanders and why you should choose each depending on your project. We will also discover how to choose the right sandpaper and the right order to use them in depending on the finish you are trying to achieve. We will discuss the concept of “Grain popping” and when you need to do it.   Finally we will look at the use of dust extraction and discover how the incorrect usage of extraction can actually increase your sanding time.
